“Hi Lynette,
I just wanted to send you a quick email and tell you how much I enjoy and learn from your podcast.

My younger son, David, who is 12, would probably be identified as ADHD if I ever had him officially tested.  We homeschool, so we just do things the way that works best for him. We avoid cow dairy, because that revs him up and he’s now old enough to recognize that he doesn’t like that feeling.  He’s a happy, positive kid who struggles academically with language and writing skills, but he will talk your head off and has an amazing vocabulary.  He never met a stranger, but sometimes he gets so excited to meet someone and talk with them he jumbles his words and talks so fast they can’t understand him.

Your podcast has taught me to be more direct, yet kind, with him, rather than beating around the bush the way I used to (to avoid hurting his feelings—how dumb was that?) about how sometimes his behaviors seem a little weird to others.  I can’t thank you enough for that.  It’s been amazingly helpful.  I’m still catching up with all the podcasts and just finished the one about Tegue, Texas. You teach me so much about parenting in general.  I’m always trying to learn to deal better with how things ARE, not the way I wish they were.  I call the place where things are always perfect “The Land of Should.”  My mother raised me there, and it’s been a pleasure learning how to leave that place. You’ve helped me move along faster and with more positive skills as a parent.

Thanks for your GOOD work.
Ann”

The Brain Broad Builds A Brain!

On Webtalkradio.net

make-a-difference

“The Brain Broad finds guests that have been instrumental in developing heretofore unknown or unexpected solutions to either their own brain story or the stories of their patients.  If you are concerned about brain matters this is the place to find answers… Before you buy a prognosis! Occasionally Lynette Louise aka The Brain Broad will begin the show with a challenge by flipping through the DSMV and sticking her finger on a random page. The Brain Broad and her guest will challenge themselves to “Build A Brain” by pondering a “new” way to approach the disorder. This is a fun way to encourage change within the  stagnant field of medicine because thinking differently from inside the box IS the way out of the box. Lynette Louise aka The Brain Broad will be singing about Google and the Google Gods while Google searching definitions and research items during the show in order to keep all listeners in the loop of understanding. Once the interview is complete our Brain Broad has a Building The Brain section within which she explains how she would attempt to help this particular brain problem – using her tools of neurofeedback and play – in a way that augments and clarifies whatever the guests discussed. You will learn, laugh and occasionally cry.”
